Best Setting to capture July 4 lighting and fire crackers

Whats the best Setting to capture July 4 lighting and fire crackers. This will be the first time I will try to capture some images with my T2i so some advice please. Also, how do I control the light meter when shooting in Tv, Av mode to control the exposure?

    I too, would love to learn about this. This is my first year owning a DSLR and I am having a hard time taking pictures when it is dark out. I have the T2i with the kit lens only.
