Sigma 24-70mm settings

I recently purchased the Sigma 24-70mm and I'm having trouble getting my settings correct. I either have too much grain or it could be too bright or too dark. I've tried just about everything that I know and I can't figure it out. Hoping someone out there can give me some tips to try. I would very much appreciate any and all advise. Thanks
