Last month I bought my D3100, but I am unable to capture any image in manual mode. The picture becomes black every time! Please help me.

Since you are using Manual Mode, make sure that Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO are properly mixed depending on the amount of light available. There is an exposure indicator on the screen (Page 6 of the User manual) or through the viewfinder (Page 10 of the User manual) that will help you achieve a perfect exposure.
