Continuous burst of shots in Auto mode with flash enabled

edited May 2012 Posted in » Nikon D3100 Forum
Yesterday I took some photos of my girlfriend while she was dancing. I noticed that while in Auto mode, I couldn't shoot multiple photos (only one at a time). Since it was dark, I had to use flash. I also noticed that the camera was writing to the SD card at that moment. I have a 8GB Transcend class 10 SD card. Is it possible that this is the problem? In manual mode I can shoot multiple photos, one after another (without flash).

  • The flash needs time to recycle. If you want to do continuous shooting with a flash, you'll need a speedlight or some other kind of external flash.
  • Howdy @rick_berge - As @timthetortoise mentioned, the D3100 needs time to recycle (recharge) the flash. This is completely normal. The only way to speed it up would be to use a powerful external speedlight.

I made this investment and it was well worth it.
