Dead pixel

I have a dead/cold pixel. I took it to a few places and they suggested that I send it to Canon. Im scared of doing that because I use my camera for work related purposes quite often and scared of how long it would take to fix and get back to me. Is there any thing else I could do about a dead pixel?
