Importing T2i shots into iPhoto - Vertical photo issues?

Hi again. So this weekend was my first time playing with my T2i. It really is a fantastic camera. I took a bunch of horizontal photos and only 2 vertical. When I went to import them into my MacBook Pro (using iPhoto), the 2 vertical shots showed up as black. The only way to solve this was to import them with the Canon software, and then drag the photos into iPhoto. It solves the issue, but is this a known problem with iPhoto? Could it be my memory card? I'm currently using one that is a few years old, but I'll be picking up a 32GB class 10 today. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue!
