River Shots

I have a friend that works with a raft company and I would like to start taking river photography. I live in Idaho so I have readily available resources but no idea how to capture them just right. Any tips or tricks?

@ dakotaprincess - Are you talking of whitewater or slow drifting? Also, are you wanting to be in the boat or shoot from the bank? I have done both and would love to get you heading in the direction you want to go.
