Memory card compatibility and performance

They say that no question is a stupid one if you don't know the answer. I may be testing the limits of that statement!

I know that the Nikon D5100 accepts SD, SDHC and SDXC cards. Other than card capacity and speed, is there any reason to use one particular type of the three cards?

I have a 32 GB Lexar LX series class 10 card. Should I be "good to go" as far as my memory card for a while, or should I make some other purchase? Thanks!

    Howdy @snowalps - Ha! Well, I just put you at ease and let you know that your particular Lexar card far exceeds the minimum requirements for keeping up with continuous bursts and HD video recording.     Hi Moose,
    I have a PNY professional 32gb class10 memory card. Do I need a different card for my D5100?

    The short answer is no. Your card is just champion (English expression).
