As I'm preparing to welcome my niece or nephew in a month, I'm getting ready for a newborn shoot! I'm super excited--and my brother-in-law and his girlfriend are excited to let me take pictures of their baby! They are really embracing my hobby, and even though they will probably have a true pro take newborn pictures, they have offered to let me practice and work on this awesome craft.

What lens do you prefer to shoot with? Any advice on posing the babe? I'm planning to do more of a lifestyle shoot, with them in the nursery and around home, to make sure that they are comfortable.
