Holiday Lights

Hi There! I am looking into taking some photos of holiday light displays this year (indoor/outdoor), and was wondering about the settings. I have tried using the stars/galaxies/northern-lights and the fireworks/lightening cheat sheets, but was hoping to fine tune it a little more. I am planning on using my 18-55mm lens.
