Removing photo information from thumbnail

How can I remove the information that is listed on the photos that is usually printed in the lower right corner of the image? Presently I am cropping the image and loosing a section of the image. I want to use the full image. I am using the Nikon D5000.

Is this information that is imprinted on the image whenever it its shown in a computer display, such as date info?

If so, the entry you want is in the Setup Menu, and is called "Print date." You need to turn that off.
