You need one with a motor to have AF. An older motorless AF less will meter and function, but requires a motor in the camera to autofocus, which this one does not have. If you don't mind manual focusing, you can get a good picture without the motor. However, be warned that the small viewing screen can make this somewhat difficult, and it will not be as fast and consistently accurate. I would opt for the built in motor unless your budget allows only a used lens bargain.
