Close ups of my coin collection

edited April 2012 Posted in » Nikon D3100 Forum
I want to take photos of my coin collection to put on ebay to sell, but they dont appear very close up. What would be the best way to do it using settings, etc... I have a Nikon D3100 with a 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens, I have only had this camera for a short while and love it. :) Thank you - Robyn

You can try magnifying filters. These can be combined for extra magnification. Good luck! ;)
  • Howdy @Robyn - The issue is with the magnification of your 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses and not your settings. Those lenses aren't capable of extreme close-ups without a little assistance.

The easiest and most affordable way to dabble in macro photography is to attach a Raynox DCR-250 macro adapter. Check out my in-depth write-up here.

This little nifty device simply clips on to the front of your 18-55mm and 55-200mm lens, instantly increasing your magnification giving you the ability to capture close-ups of your coin collection. Hope that helps and happy shooting! :)
