Settings for taking portraits with a 50mm f/1.4

I am new to the DSLR world, but love to take lots of photos all the time. Can you please tell me what's the best settings for taking portraits? Thanks in advance!

    Howdy @Jharar - Welcome! For portraits, just enable Aperture priority (Av on the mode dial), select an aperture between f/1.4 to f/2.8 (using the small command dial), set your ISO to Auto, and set the AF mode to 'ONE SHOT'. With these settings in place, pre-focus on the eyes by half pressing the shutter and then recompose the shot for better framing. That should get you going in the right direction. Happy shooting! :)
