Horrible quality when uploading to Facebook

So my photos taken with my T2i look fine on Flickr, but is horribly compressed when I upload them onto Facebook.

It's even worse when I set a DSLR picture as a profile picture; the thumbnail is all edgy. I know it has to do with the settings on my end because my friends are able to upload their DSLR pictures onto Facebook without it being choppy/compressed. Have any idea what settings I should use for optimal Facebook uploads?

Hey @christinavo - Yeah, Facebook is a bit of a pain for photographers. As far as I know, they compress all JPEG's to fit under 100kb and unfortunately their compression is quite aggressive. Here are a couple articles that address some remedies...

The free program Irfanview also includes a good many options for resizing and resampling including a "save for web" choice and different JPG compression algorithms, which vary a great deal in quality.

Even on a site that applies its own compression to everything, finding the best initial compression helps a lot.
