Wedding photos

edited July 2014 Posted in » Nikon Lens Talk
Hi first timer here from the UK. A friend as asked me to photograph his wedding and this will be my first one. gulp. Anyway, I was just wondering other than the kit lens if I was to use just one lens which would you recommend ? I should say the church is very small, old, dark, and no flash photography is allowed. I have got a 50mm f/1.8g AF-s on order, but I'm not sure which to use for other parts of the wedding day.
Thank you,
Tony :)

For full frame users, the combo of 24-70mm f/2.8 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 is the easy choice for weddings. Allows you to go wide for large groups shots, moderately tele for portraits, and tele for great candids and other shots without interfering with the ceremony.

For APS-C users, you could use the same combo, but 24mm may not be wide enough for large group shots. You could use the 18-55mm kit lens for those situations. A fast zoom with equivalent field of view would be either the 17-55mm f/2.8 or the 17-50mm f/2.8.
