When I take pictures with my Nikon D3200 using a 55-200mm lens in auto mode, it softens background details and blurs everything in background. Which settings should I use?
You may want to know what causes your background to be blurred. If so, then search and learn about depth of field. A few quick pointers: If your subject (i.e. object that your focus point is on) is close to the camera, your background will tend to get blurry. If your aperture is large (i.e. small f-number), then your background will tend to get blurry. If you’re shooting at a long focal length, then your background will tend to get blurry.
Now, if you don’t want to read about photography and just want a quick fix on how to get more of your frame in focus, then just switch your mode dial to landscape. The camera will try to use a small aperture (i.e. large f-number) to maximize the depth of field.
