I have a Nikon cool pix 100. I'm using it to take pictures of my law office to upload to my website. The pictures need to be 970 wide by 450 tall per my webmaster. I can't figure out what setting to put my camera on to meet this criteria.
I suggest that you get a copy of the freeware program "Irfanview." It's a pretty powerful program for viewing, resizing and changing formats, but fairly compact and quick, and does not install anything on your computer. You can do bulk operations as well, so just take the pictures however the camera prefers, then run a bulk operation to resize them all as needed. You can also crop and apply a small number of other processing changes.
I use this as my default image viewer. In its basic form it works very well, but you can also get a bunch of add-ons that make it more versatile.
It's easy to find on the web, but be a little careful of some sites that may try to add other software to your downloads.
