Nikon AS-10 Multi Flash Adapter

I am looking to hard wire up to 4 flash units (eventually) to my D3100 for studio use via the 3 PC sync ports and the hotshoe. Will this do what I want?

Can I also connect an off-camera hotshoe cable to the top of this unit as sort of a double-decker idea?

NOTES: At this stage, I do not want to invest in an expensive remote triggering system and I'm not interested in wasting money on a cheap system that only fires 8 or 9 times out of 10. I want 100% reliability. I am mostly shooting still-life, action shots and portraits here and there in the studio.
