Best lens in low light for a once in a lifetime event

edited January 2014 Posted in » Nikon D5100 Forum
I recently bought a D5100 that came with the kit lens, and I also bought a 50mm f/1.8g, and a 55-200mm. I'm doing a once in a lifetime tour of a closed and sealed missile base with the military historian. Which lens works best in low light? The only light will be what we bring with us, as it's 50 feet underground with no power since 1965, and it's huge. One of the rooms is 120' round with a 50 foot high ceiling. I'm getting short on time, and if I need to buy something I need to know soon.

    Hi,
I definitely recommend the 50mm f/1.8 and you might still need to use flash in that environment. Good luck.

  • The 50 1.8 is my favorite lens and less than 200 bucks. The 1.4 is better, but costs much more.
