Fall photo shoot with toddlers

Hello there,

I have the Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm and 55-300mm lens kits. I would like to take some outdoor pictures of my 2 toddlers (active toddlers may I add) with blurry background of the fall leaves and trees. Can you please advise me what settings I would need?
