Connect camera to monitor for live view

I want to shoot some videos with my Nikon D5100 and I want to monitor that with my HD monitor instead of the live view. Is it possible to connect my camera to my monitor to use it as live view? I only have a VGA port in my monitor. Will a VGA to mini HDMI cable be able to do this?
