Zoom and Focus Locked

Our Canon 60D has a locked zoom and focus lens, and it is making clicking sounds. Can anyone help me understand and fix this?

    I don't think I can help you fix this because I think the gearing is messed up inside the lens. Unless you have a lens with full time manual focusing, you cannot turn the focus ring while in AF mode. The result is similar to the symptoms you are describing. Disengage the lens from the camera and set it to MF. Then gently, and I mean gently, rock the focus ring back and forth. If it will not rock, or you meet resistance, then the damage is done.
