I have a D50 that may be about 6 years old, but only has a few thousand clicks through it. Unfortunately, the sensor died and it was going to cost a little too much to replace. I now have a fully functioning D50 except for the sensor.
1. Is there a market for this thing and all of its accessories except for maybe Ebay? Nikon sells reconditioned bodies, would they be interested?
2. The AF-S 18-55mm lens does autofocus as it should, but the AF 28-80mm, which still works on the D50, will not autofocus on the D3100. Is it still OK to be used as a manual focus lens?
3. The D50 was rated as reliable to 150K cycles. Is there a number like that available for the D3100? How do you get the current cycle count from this camera?
Comments
1. Yep, you can probably get between $30-$50 selling it "as is" on ebay.
2. Yes, you can use the 28-80mm as a manual focus lens on the D3100.
3. I believe it's 100k. There are a couple places on the web (myshuttercount.com) you can upload your latest image and find out.
All the best!
