Turning off the Help icon?

Is there a way to turn OFF the Help "?" icon that pops up if it senses low light and whatnot? It drives me nuts and won't let me use other functions if the camera is sensing something slightly off when I'm in manual.

Also...is there a quick button to change my focus mode quickly instead of going through the menu each time? Thank you!

Not what you want to hear, I know! But no, you can't turn off the warning or error messages and focus mode is not one of the functions you can assign to the Fn button.

Howdy @inmank - The D3100 is designed to be a "beginners" camera, which is why Nikon implemented all of the various warning messages. It can be annoying, I know.

As for the function button, @robbo is right. The Fn button is limited to Image Quality, ISO, White Balance or D-Lighting. Happy shooting! :)
