Will one of these lenses fit my D3100? If so, what does it do? I have been offered one but don't want to take it for the sake of it. I have an 18-55mm and 55-200mm kit lens, and also a 50mm prime.

Hi! that sigma will work very well with the D3100. It's a wide angle lens used for landscapes, architecture and travel (also interiors like houses and churches but needs a tripod). Ask yourself if you need to go wider than 18mm. Test with your kit lens what are you are most used to for focal lengths. Personally when I travel I use a Tokina 12-24mm f/4 and a Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G. I'm able to get it all done with them. I will be adding the 50mm f/1.8g soon.
