Best Settings for Portraits with the 50mm f/1.8

Hello All,

I have a Canon T3i and I just recently purchased the Canon 50mm lens. My question is what are the best settings for portraits and newborn pictures?

    Another thought is to may apply the L bracket. This accessory can help in shifting from portrait to landscape in a snap.
