Wide Angle Shots

What is every shooting for wide angle (with Nikon lenses only)?

I was debating the 16-85mm to replace the kit lens, but have decided I really want to go wide to have some creative fun with it, so my next purchase will be the 10-24mm (at which point I'll sell the 18-55mm kit lens because it's a bit redundant).

What are everyone's favorite wide angle lenses and why? Links to pics are always good. :)

  • @Adelphos - The Tokina 12-24mm f/4 and the older Nikon 12-24mm f/4 are both excellent alternatives to the newer Nikon 10-24mm. They're sharp, a bit brighter towards the tele end (f/4 at 24mm versus f/4.5 at 24mm) and are built well.

The disadvantage for these lenses is the focal length towards the wide end. While the 2mm difference (10mm to 12mm) may not seem like much, it's actually quite a bit especially if you're shooting architecture.

If you're looking to save a buck, the Sigma 10-20mm is another option. It's not built as well as the Nikon or Tokina, but still quite sharp. Best of luck in your decision! :)

Yup, I'm pretty set on the 10-24mm personally. :)

A little late here, but yes Tokina 12-24mm f/4 is awesome as well as Nikons 10-24mm. I mainly use my Tokina 12-24mm and either 35mm f/1.8g or 50mm f/1.8g. It is a lightweight set for travels.

Tokina 11-16mm is also a very good lens.

I wish I had the money for a 11-16mm lens.
