Settings for Exposure

edited March 2013 Posted in » Nikon D3100 Forum
Earlier I was able to shoot a photo in a well lit ( fluorescent) room with 400 ISO, f/5 and 1/125s without flash. Now the same room with same lighting is taking 400 ISO, f/4 and 1/25s . I don't know why this is happening. Is something wrong with exposure settings? I tried to reset all settings, but the problem is not fixed yet. Please help.

  • @nammu88 - There are a lot of variables here. Ultimately if the settings are the same, then it depends on where you're pointing the camera (measuring the available light).

If you're pointing it towards a bright light source (window, lamp, etc...), then the shutter speed will increase.

Likewise, when you point it towards a subject that isn't as bright (pet, child, etc...) the shutter speed will decrease.
