Tips for Photographing Jewelry

edited March 2013 Posted in » Nikon D3100 Forum
I've got a Nikon D3100, an 18-55mm kit lens, and a Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro and plastic light box. I’m going to be starting a jewelry business and need some advice for photographing rings and jewelry. What ISO, aperture and shutter speed should I use?

@hussyameer slow down, you will give yourself a heart attack. Let's take it one step at a time. Are you aware when using this piece of equipment you will need some kind of continuous lighting? Or am I assuming you will be taking the light box outside in daylight ?

We are more than happy to help, we just need to get a few things sorted first.

Yes, it's a square plastic photography box that has a white light for illuminating products. When I photograph a piece of jewelry in broad daylight it's great, but when I take a picture using the light box it doesn't turn out very good.
