Best Lens For Close-ups

I have Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm VR kit lens and I want to buy a new lens. My budget is around $350, and in most of my shoots I'm stuck in a room so I'm close to things.

    I have the DX 35mm f/1.8G, and it's a great lens for a low price. It is designed for APS-C sized cameras like the D5100. The DX 35mm has a picture angle of 44°. It is a normal lens and not a zoom lens. If you are inside rooms f/1.8 will help you to catch much light in low-light situations. May be you can consider this.

    The DX 40mm f/2.8 is amazing.
