Indoor Christmas Photo Shoot

I am doing a Christmas photo shoot in a friends house (which I've never done before). They want pictures with their fireplace and Christmas tree, and I am worried. I've been on google but I'm not getting the answers I need. I do not own a speed light or umbrella so how can I get the best pictures?

I have the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm lenses.

To be honest, it's another one of those situations; it's a photographer's nightmare. You're basically trying to expose one or the other but you really want both. A nice prime lens would have helped you and a speed light, but you could look for a cheaper alternative like a pop up flash deflector.
