Nikon AF-S DX 40 mm f/2.8 G lens

There has been a lot of talk here about which prime lens is the best all around lens. I have been looking at this:
Nikon Micro-Nikkor AF-S DX 40 mm f/2.8 G lens.
I am just looking for advise on this lens; anyone use one? How do you like it?
I like to take landscapes and close up photos. If I am correct this lens will do both right?
Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased this lens and love it! I'm having a great time playing with macro shots as well as portraits. Haven't done too much landscape work with it yet.

Deb, is the above mentioned lens a macro lens?
  • Yes, it can be used for macro work, but I have also been using it for portraits as well. It's pretty versatile.
  • The f/2.8s and f/1.8s will open up a whole new world for you! With a 40mm Macro you will need to be close for true macro, but when it comes to detail, you will be blown away!
