Noisy Lens

I've just bought a 55-250mm f4-5.6 USM IS lens second hand. It makes a quiet, but noticeable coffee grinder noise when the IS is on. I've not heard anything with my other IS lenses. Does anyone have this lens who could tell me if this is normal for the model?
