Hi, I have a Nikon D3100 camera.
When shooting inside, even with the curtains open, the flash goes off and my toddler blinks; he never did that with my point and shoot basic camera! Is there anything I can do to fix that?
Is it ok to turn the flash off as long as there is lots of light in the room? What if I am in portrait mode?
I'm not confident with all the settings yet.
Thanks.

I'm new to the D3100, but I suggest you just play around with the settings and find out what works for you. Try taking photos with the flash off and if that doesn't work try changing the ISO setting, shutter speed, aperture etc. Just have a play and see what comes out best.
Also, you could try taking photos with your toddler looking away from the camera and some candids.
Best of luck.
