Editing software

What editing software would you recommend for a beginner photographer like myself that would be easy to understand and learn? I hear a lot about Photoshop Elements and Lightroom but haven't worked with either.

    Adobe Lightroom will be handy for beginners and you can start working on it as soon as you have installed the software. If you are not comfortable with Adobe Lightroom I would like to suggest Picasa for minimal adjustments to make your picture colorful.

    I would definitely recommend Lightroom as well. You can use the basics and grow into it as you learn more. I would argue that unless one is doing some more serious spot work, Lightroom is all you need as well.

    Thanks, most people I know use Photoshop Elements and don't know much about Lightroom, so this is helpful.
