I have managed to scrimp and save £1000 and I'm looking to buy a zoom lense to use for both sports and wildlife photography. Although I have researched possibilities on the net, I would welcome any advice.
For indoor and outdoor sports, wildlife and even portraits this is perfect: Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM (you'll have to save some more). This is good for what you want as well: Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM.
I have the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM and highly recommend it for wildlife such as birds photography. With current rebates, it goes for about $1400-1500(US), about £1000. Another good option is buying refurbished lens directly from Canon, usually virtually brand new.
