Prime Lens 50mm

I am interested in a lens compatible with my Nikon D3100. I am thinking of a 50mm lens to take fashion portraits (street style, using natural light) with a blurred background. Can you recommend the right lens to get this effect? Thanks :)

Can't go wrong with either the Nikon Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.4G or the f/1.8G.
The f/1.4 is about double the price of the f/1.8, so you'll have to decide whether the 2/3 stop improvement is worth the money. I think the f/1.8 is probably sufficient, but it's your call!
