Is there a way to free-lens with this camera?

Is there a way to free-lens with this camera? I would like to experiment with this, but I always get the message "lens detached, please replace lens".

    To free lens you need to have your camera on Manual mode. It's the same as if you have a non CPU lens attached. The camera will not be able to meter, so the aperture and shutter speed have to be set manually.

    Of course, be careful not to drop your lens while doing this. ;-)
