Blue Glow in Photos

When I take outside shots in fully auto mode, using a Nikon 55-200mm lens, set at 200 with autofocus and VR on, I'm getting a blue glow around bright areas. I took some shots of a Bluebird and the blue area along his back had a bluish glow coming off it. I also have the same bluish glow coming from a white plastic object in another photo. They were taken in bright sunny conditions. What's causing this?
