Any recommendations for a tripod to get?

@Preno for taking pictures, or movies as well? You don't need a fluid head if you usually take pictures and rarely video.

Unless you own a pro body and very heavy tele lenses, you won't need a heavy duty tripod.

How much are you willing to spend? You can get a nice tripod for around $150.
