Is The Canon T2i Compatible With My Old Macbook Pro?

Hey, I'm a new member and a total camera beginner looking to purchase my first camera.

I got a recommendation from a close friend (professional photographer/cinematographer) that I will get the most bang for my buck with the Canon T2i. What are your thoughts?

Assuming I purchase the T2i, I am not sure my current mac software is compatible with the camera. I checked canon.com and at a glance it looks like my software is out of date, but I want your experienced knowledge.

Computer Specifics:

Bought new in 2007
2 Ghz Intel Core Duo
1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Running Leopard OSX 10.4

Will I be able to upload and store images from a T2i to this computer?

T2i saves pictures as jpegs, viewable using Preview or iPhoto. The possible issue is when you plan to edit the pictures, can you update to the latest and greatest version of iPhoto or Adobe.
