Settings For Sharpness When Shooting RAW

I am shotting in raw setting. I set the style settings to standard style and in standard setting, the sharpness to 7.
I leave the others in the middle.
The default setting I think was three.
My pictures were not very sharp, so I did changed it to seven. With the new setting of 7, I think they are sharper.
I was told that those settings are for shotting in JPG and in raw.
Is that statement correct?
