Another 50mm Question.

edited September 2012 Posted in » Nikon D3100 Forum
Nikon 50mm f/1.8D lens.
Or
Nikon 50mm f/1.8G lens.

Whats the difference? From what I know it's the auto focus right?
Anything else?

And Is the extra $100 really worth it?

You need to decide if auto focus is a must for your own personal choice. Other than the AF there is not much difference except in price. I like the ability to have both so I would purchase the 1.8G as I have done. :)

If you want to know more technical details I would go on Nikons website, but for simple differences there is not much between them.

Okay thanks. I still don't know which one to buy. For budget's sake I guess the 1.8d.

I'm from the UK so I can't really say what it's like for prices in the U.S.
If you check this site out you may get a better idea; it's a good price guide. Also check amazon.
Check out digitalrev, just pop it into google.

For reference the 1.8g is £150 and the 1.8d is £85.

It is a big difference, it just depends how much you want AF.
