Red eye setting

Hi There. Hi Moose. Is there a way to turn off the red eye reduction/self timer lamp when taking pictures with a remote? When I switch red eye reduction to "disable" in the menu, the lamp still flashes. I don't get it. :(

Try this; I'm not sure but its worth a try.
If you are going to use flash in a semi dark room there may not be enough light for the lens to focus and it might be the cameras way of getting enough light so it can focus.
Try setting the lens to manual focus and try it again.
