Can't get live view setting overlay

Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum and I have a question regarding my D5100.

In live view my 'info' button, which would normally cycle through overlay view options, is having no effect. Cannot get any setting text or grid in live view.
I've tried everything I can think of. Is there any possible hidden settings that may be causing this, or maybe info button is faulty?

    Did it work before?

    I know of no setting that should disable the function although connection of an HDMI device can change it. The "info" button should toggle through the overlay settings, but make sure you remember that this is not the "i" button on the back, but the "info" button behind the shutter. If nothing is happening when it should, the only thing I can suggest is a full camera reset, which some people have found to cure problems of no known cause.
