Removing time/date stamp from photos

edited August 2012 Posted in » Nikon D5100 Forum
I know how to turn on and off the stamp function, but can I remove the stamp from photos that have it on them?

Thank you,

  • Theres no way to remove the stamp in the camera, but you could use a paint program to do it.
You might get away with a crop, if you don't need the area below the stamp.
Otherwise, use a program like Gimp to 'paint' over the stamp so the area blends in with the photo.

    http://www.cameratips.com/d5100/settings-modes-nikon-d5100#time-stamp

    To enable the Time Stamp…
    1. Press the MENU button, then select the Retouch Menu tab (paint brush icon)
    2. Highlight Shooting/display, then press the right arrow button on the multi selector
    3. Highlight Print Date (d5), then press the right arrow button on the multi selector
    4. Highlight Date or Date and time, then press the OK button
    5. After enabling the time stamp feature, you should see a DATE icon in the upper portion of the LCD information display

NOTE: This is to ENABLE time stamp, but should be almost the same to disable.

    1. Take out the SD card from the camera.
    2. Go to the settings and reset your camera.
    3. Put in the SD card and check if the date is gone.
  • RDUCK525. The info is a little incorrect.

You go to the pencil icon not paint brush. Then shooting display, press ok than scroll to print date. Press ok again and then select the off option.
This turns off date and time.
