Issues photographing the moon

edited October 2014 Posted in » Canon 60D Forum
Hi all-
I tried to photograph the eclipse last night and it didn't work out too well. I used a tripod and exposure compensation. I have the 135mm kit lens. Nothing was tack sharp; most of them were either blurred or doubled up. The tripod is an inexpensive lightweight one I use for hiking. The best one was ISO 200 at f/11 for 8 seconds. I didn't have a cable release so I used the self timer. Wondering if I still had the exposure wrong (I used the spot meter/focus) or was my tripod not holding the camera steady? Was my exposure too long?

TIA- Ellen
