Focusing in low light

edited December 2013 Posted in » Nikon D3200 Forum
I've been playing around with your suggested settings in low light for groups and portraits with the kit lens and I'm having a hard time with the focus. Only one red light flashes when I half press the button, always on the right side. Is my camera broken or am I? :)

  • Hey @hollyannemorris - It sounds like your AF point accidentally got bumped to the right side of the frame. Just relocate it to the center by pressing the control pad (arrows) on the back of the camera. Once in the center, aim the focus point at something contrasty (necklace, glasses, etc...) and you should be able to achieve autofocus in low light. All the best!
