Solid Versus Graduated Neutral Density Filter

I bought a solid 0.6 Tiffen neutral density filter. I thought it was going to be grad filter, but it is not; so solid darkened.

It was a great deal, so i'm keeping it, but was wondering what type of environments this solid ND could be used in?

    For those occasions you want a long exposure without over exposing. For example, with waterfalls or clouds, you will get that silky look.
